Reference LORENZ

REQUIREMENTS

A 100% oil-free and clean compressed air is essential for the production of the Bavarian potato chip manufacturer Lorenz. The existing system, which was equipped with two-stage, dry-running screw compressors, slowly reached its limits and was getting on in years. So, during a redesign of the system and already initial positive experiences with oil-free, water-injected screw compressors, the company RENNER was chosen.

PLANT DESCRIPTION

The first adjustment of the compressed air system was done in 2018. During this expansion two water-injected screw compressors type RSWF 120 D with 20.6 m³/ min flowrate and speed control were installed. In addition, a RENNERconnect was installed for visualization and data backup. The existing water-cooling system was changed to a new cooling concept with closed dry cooler, auxiliary and emergency cooler with well water.

SAVINGS

The switch to the energy efficient RSWF 120 D screw compressors reduced power consumption from approx. 0.14 kWh/m³ to 0.11 kWh/m³. This enables energy savings of over 20%. In addition, the water injected screws compressors operate abrasion and wear-free in the compression chamber, which ensures constant performance throughout their life cycle.
The RENNERconnect offers need-based control and the selection of compressors according to operating requirements.
