REQUIREMENTS

The existing installation, which used to supply compressed air by means of oil-lubricated compressors, no longer met the current requirements of the IFS despite the complex air treatment technology. RENNER's project department was confronted with the challenge of installing a system that would supply clean, oil-free compressed air in a reliable, energy-saving, and sustainable manner. Furthermore, a heat recovery system for heating water is to be integrated.

PLANT DESCRIPTION

After several compressed air consumption measurements and analyses, it was decided to replace the existing system with three oil-free, water-injected compressors. Previous compressors were incorporated as a reserve. The new compressors are from the RSWF series with 1:1 direct drive and speed control. In addition, a heat recovery system was integrated, which is used to increase the return flow. The system is controlled by a superordinate control system for interconnected control and visualization as well as for data filing and coupling to the data network.

SAVINGS

The specially developed solution enables a 100% oil-free compressed air supply, which was funded by BAFA (only Germany). The filtration line could be completely omitted and a pressure reduction of 1 bar could be achieved. In addition, 85% of the power input was recovered and used as heat for the building heating system.
